To install HDM IV for the first time:
1. Put the HDM IV diskette in drive A:
2. Key in A: to switch to drive A:
3. Key in INSTALL C:\HDM where C:\HDM is the dir to install to.
To update an existing Hard Disk Menu system:
1. Put the HDM IV diskette in drive A:
2. Key in A: to switch to drive A:
3. Key in UPDATE C:\HDM where C:\HDM is the dir that contains HDM
To start the Hard Disk Menu IV: change to the directory that it was
installed in and key in HDM, then press ENTER.
After starting HDM IV, press <F1> and read the Help Screens.

This is a list of files that should be on your distribution disk:
PRINTDOC.BAT A batch file to print the HDM IV manual (HDM.DOC).
INSTALL.BAT The batch file that installs HDM IV on your hard disk.
UPDATE.BAT The batch file that updates a currently installed HDM.
* HDM.BAT The batch file that starts the Hard Disk Menu.
* HDM4.EXE The main program used by the Hard Disk Menu system.
* HDM.HLP The Hard Disk Menu help messages.
* HDM.000-999 files used by HDM IV to hold configuration and menu info.
HDM.HDR Sample header file to create your own logo screen.
A1.000 Sample help file to create custom help for menu entries.
REGISTER.DOC A form useful for registering HDM IV.
INVOICE.DOC A form useful if your company requires an invoice.
HDM.DOC The HDM IV reference and user manual.
NOTE: * in front of file names are those required to run HDM IV.

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS WHEN RUNNING HDM IV:
If you have snow on your screen, start HDM with the -S switch.
If your screen is unreadable because of current color selections,
start with the -V switch.
If HDM doesn't seem to run correctly, check the following:
Make sure you have only one COMMAND.COM on your hard disk in the
root directory, and you have a path to it. Make sure you also
have a path to the HDM directory and that you start HDM while
in its own directory.
Example of starting HDM from your AUTOEXEC.BAT: PATH C:\;C:\HDM
CD\HDM
HDM -S -V
